February 2018 RON95 petrol price prediction

21 Feb 2018: Gong xi fa cai to one and all! As you already noticed, the petrol price went down for the holiday season. This was due not only to lower raw material prices, but also because the government set the premium lower - from the 10-11 sen premium over the 1st two weeks of February, to 7 sens last week. It is still high compared to the 2-3 sen premium in the past. Perhaps a higher price buffer is needed for publicity purposes? We are not sure!

This week, the indicators show that price should remain the same.

RON95 petrol price prediction - January 2018

31 Jan 2018: UPDATE: So the price went *up* again despite indications showing it should have gone down. Oh well, lets see how things go in February!
And it's a wrap so quickly. This month, the petrol price set by the government has been well above the actual pricing shown by raw material costs and Ringgit rate. This suggests (although it can't be shown for sure) that some reserves are now being kept, perhaps to be released later on for the holidays or other major events. However, the government continues to follow the trend (up or down) but with more premium added on. Thus we believe there would be a slight drop in pricing for the announcement today.

10 Jan 2018: Wow, is it the new year already? We are predicting a reduction in petrol prices to be announced this Wednesday, mainly thanks to the ringgit strengthening significantly. However refined products pricing is starting to move up again, watch this space carefully!
