20 Dec 2017: This week, there was almost no change from last week in either raw material price or ringgit. Markets are quiet as many traders are off for their holidays already. So most likely, price will remain the same.

6 Dec 2017: Wow can you believe it, we are in December already! A year has gone past in a flash. For the coming announcement, we should expect a decrease as the Ringgit has been strengthening a lot over the past few weeks.

29 Nov: Yep, we were correct last week. This week, signs are pointing toward a slight further drop in the RON95 pricing. Let's wait for the next day of data points to see where things are going. The government might also be pushing prices down thanks to the school holidays (since they've made the margin 2 weeks ago at RM2.38/liter when indicators showed it at just RM2.33/liter).
Update: Yes, the government kept the price at RM2.30/liter.

22 Nov: Some respite, finally! There should be a decrease in the RON95 price in today's announcement, as both the refined products price has fallen, and the Ringgit has strengthening a lot over the last week. Let's hope for the best!

15 Nov: Well, we predicted an increase but didn't expect such a huge one! Prediction was RM2.33/liter, it was actually a massive increase to RM2.38! The good news is, Ringgit is finally strengthening again so let's hope there might be some better news in the coming weeks.

8 Nov: Well, we were really close last week. There's only one way prices are moving now - it's definitely up, up and up! Raw material prices are through the roof but the Ringgit has not moved yet. So, go pump as soon as possible if you can. 

RON95 October 2017

25 October: Well, it's been a while since there were updates from us! Apologies for the disruption as we were caught up and there appeared to be some changes in the method the government was using, leading to strange results. We have re-calibrated our formula and lets see how well it works now!

Anyway, we are back online! For the price likely to be announced on 25th Oct, it's *most likely* to be RM2.19/liter as world petrol prices have gone up while the Ringgit remains about the same. 

RON95 September 2017

7 Sept: OK, akhirnya kita berada pada minggu terakhir bulan September! Setakat ini tiada perubahan dalam bahan mentah dan harga Ringgit. Oleh itu pada masa ini, mungkin tidak ada perubahan atau berpotensi, peningkatan yang sangat sedikit dalam harga!

20 Sept: Kos bahan mentah naik minggu ini sementara ringgit tidak berubah. Bagaimanapun, sejak kerajaan sudah menetapkan kadar yang tinggi minggu lalu, tidak jelas bagaimana mereka akan bertindak balas minggu ini. Kemungkinan besar, harga akan dikekalkan.

13 Sept: Minggu ini Ringgit telah mengukuh berbanding dengan USD, sementara harga bahan mentah juga turun. Oleh itu, kita mengharapkan pergerakan menurun, mungkin hingga lebih kurang RM2.18.
Update: Malangnya penangguhan itu tidak berlaku. Harga telah ditetapkan lebih tinggi, pada RM2.21 / liter, walaupun harga yang dikira sepatutnya telah jatuh. Kami meninggalkan pembaca-pembaca untuk membuat penilaian sendiri atas sebab-sebabnya!

6 Sept: Penyanyi Hari Kemerdekaan telah pudar, dan kini kami dalam bulan September. Terdapat peningkatan yang besar dalam harga bahan mentah pada minggu lalu, namun kesannya ke atas Ringgit tidak dilihat disebabkan banyak cuti umum. Oleh itu, bersiaplah untuk peningkatan besar Rabu ini!

RON95 petrol pricing - September 2017

27 Sept: OK, finally we are in the last week of September! So far there is no change in the raw material and Ringgit pricing. So at this point in time, likely to be no change or potentially, a very slight increase in pricing!

20 Sept: So, raw material costs have gone up this week while the ringgit is unchanged. However, since the government already set such a high rate last week, it is not clear exactly how they would react this week. Most likely, it is going to be the same pricing. Update: It went down slightly to 2.18/liter!

13 Sept: This week there should be a bit of a reprieve. The ringgit has strengthened quite a lot against the USD finally, while raw material prices are also down. Thus we expect some downward movement, perhaps to RM2.18 or so per liter.
Update: Unfortunately the reprieve did not happen. The price has been set even higher at RM2.21/liter, although the calculated price should have fallen. Well, we will leave the readers to make their own judgment on the reasons!

6 Sept: Merdeka day cheers has faded, and we are now in September. There has been a huge increase in raw material prices over the last week, but its impact on the Ringgit is not seen yet due to the many public holidays. So be prepared for a big increase this Wednesday!

Minggu 5 (30 Ogos): Harga tidak berubah pada minggu ini, jadi kami menjangka ia akan dikekalkan pada RM2.15 / liter.

Minggu 3 (16 Ogos): Premium tambahan sekitar 3-4sen seliter RON95 dipegang pantas. Kami tepat meramalkan kenaikan, tetapi ia lebih tinggi dari jangkaan!

Minggu 2 (9 Ogos): Seperti yang diramalkan, harga naik semula, kali ini sedikit lebih daripada ramalan kami. Harga bahan mentah masih naik, tetapi ringgit tidak banyak bergerak, oleh itu harga petrol naik!

Minggu 1 (2 Ogos): Selamat datang ke musim panas Ogos 2017. Malangnya, harga petrol juga panas! Berdasarkan data terkini, kemungkinan besar ia akan terus naik minggu ini. Produk halus telah naik, sementara ringgit belum bergerak. Ia mungkin tidak begitu banyak seperti yang dikira kerana kerajaan sudah meningkatnya minggu lepas - tetapi ia pasti tidak akan jatuh!

Week 5 (30 August): Prices have not changed at all this week, so we expect it to be maintained at RM2.15/liter.

Week 4 (23 August): There appears to be some stabilization in the prices. The calculated price is RM2.13/liter so it could be either maintained, or a slight increase from last week. Update: actual price was maintained at RM2.15/liter.

Week 3 (16 August): The additional premium of around 3-4sen per liter of RON95 is holding fast, so we were accurate in predicting the increase although it was higher than expected!

Week 2 (9 August): Well as predicted, prices went up again, this time slightly more than what we predicted. World refined prices are heading up week after week but the ringgit is not moving much, hence the rise in petrol pricing!

Week 1 (2 August): Welcome to sweltering hot August 2017. Unfortunately, petrol prices are also hot and based on the latest data, most likely it will keep going up this week. Refined products have gone up in price while the ringgit has not really moved. It might not be as stark as the numbers suggest, as the government already built in a big rise last week - but still, it isn't going down for sure!

Minggu 2 (12 Julai 2017): Pasaran tidak banyak bergerak dari minggu sebelumnya. Harga yang dikira tetap sama, pada RM1.94 / liter. Oleh itu kebanyakannya harga sebenar mungkin sama atau sedikit lebih tinggi.

Minggu 1 (5 Julai 2017): Halo dan selamat pulang! Setakat ini, harga bahan mentah telah naik sedikit (1%), sementara Ringgit stabil. Oleh itu kemungkinan besar, kita akan melihat sedikit kenaikan harga petrol minggu ini. Pergi pam!

Week 4 (26 July 2017): We were too early last week. The real move happened this week, with prices going up a whopping 6 sen even though the official formula shows it should go up by 1 sen. Well, you still have some time to go out and fill up!

Week 3 (19 July 2017): Well this time the market actually is moving upwards. Also, last week the government apparently reversed the Raya/holiday policy of setting prices below actual pricing. So this week, it's likely that prices will continue going up!

Week 2 (12 July 2017): Overall the market hardly moved from the previous week. The calculated price remains the same, at RM1.94/liter. So mostly likely the actual price would either be the same or slightly higher.

Week 1 (5 July 2017): Hello and welcome back! So far, raw material prices have been on a slight uptrend, increasing 1%, while the Ringgit has been stable. Thus most likely, we will see a slight increase in petrol price this week. Go pump!

UPDATE: 22 June 2017
Minggu 5 (Jun 28): Wow, perayaan Raya berterusan! Walaupun pengiraan kami menunjukkan harga sepatutnya sama seperti minggu lalu, harga RON95 turun lagi ke RM1.89/litre! 

Minggu 4 (Jun 21): Wow, minggu ini harga turun ke bawah ramalan kami: ini adalah kali pertama! Mungkin supaya memberikan sambutan Hari Raya kepada rakyat.

Turun, turun, dan turun! Itulah tema harga petrol. Walau bagaimanapun, kerajaan telah mengumumkan formula baru untuk minggu ini, untuk membantu pengendali stesen minyak. Mari kita lihat apa maksudnya! Ia harus turun hingga RM1.92-RM1.95 / liter.

Minggu 3 (14 Jun): Harga telah terus bergerak ke bawah, jadi kemungkinan besar kita akan melihat RON95 di RM2.0 atau 2.01 / liter diumumkan malam ini!

Mingu 2 (7 Jun): Sehingga 7 Jun, trend minggu ini nampaknya menuju ke bawah! Mari kita berharap ia berterusan. Penunjuk menunjukkan harga harus turun kepada RM2.01 / liter tetapi seperti yang kita tahu, kerajaan telah menetapkan harga yang lebih tinggi daripada yang dinyatakan baru-baru ini. Jadi harga mungkin dalam lingkungan RM2.06 / liter!

Buat masa sekarang, harga belum meningkat walaupun berita baru mengenai kegawatan di Timur Tengah!

Minggu 1 (1 Jun): Wow sudah tengah tahun kah!? Akhirnya, selepas beberapa minggu naik, naik, dan naik, trend menurun sedikit dalam penentuan harga RON95 sudah bermula. Adakah ia akan bertahan? Menonton sini untuk mengetahui!

Kerajaan kini agak konsisten menetapkan harga antara RM3-5sen / liter lebih tinggi daripada formula tulen. Sama ada ini menjadi hasil tambahan kepada kerajaan atau tidak, kami tidak tahu, tetapi ia adalah satu trend yang konsisten setakat ini.

Week 5 (Jun 28): Wow, the Raya cheer continues! Although our calculations show it should be the same as last week, the RON95 price has gone down further! Stay tuned for how things turn out in July!

Week 4 (Jun 21): Wow, the price actually went below our prediction, this was a first! We guess it could be to give some Hari Raya cheer to the people.

Down, down, and down! That's the theme of petrol prices. However, the government has announced a new formula for this week to help petrol station operators. Let's see what that means! By right, it should descend to RM1.92-95/liter or so.


Week 3 (Jun 14): Another week roles around! Well prices have kept moving down, so most likely we will see RON95 at RM2.0 or 2.01/liter being announced tonight!

Week 2 (June 7): As of 2 June, the trend appears to be heading down this week! Let's hope it continues. Right now the indicators show it should go down to RM2.01/litre but as we know the government has consistently set it higher than indicated recently. So probably somewhere in the RM2.06/litre range is likely!

Do note that despite the recent news of Middle Eastern turmoil, prices have not moved up... so far!

Week 1 (June 1): Wow has it really been half a year already? Finally, after weeks of going up, up, up, we have a slight downward trend in the RON95 pricing. Is it going to last? Tune in to find out!

You will notice that the government is now quite consistently setting the prices between RM3-5sen/litre higher than the pure formula suggests. Whether that is going to additional government revenue or not, we do not know, but it is a consistent trend so far.

Minggu 4 (24 Mei 2017): Ya tuan-tuan dan puan-puan yang dihormati sekalian, trend adalah naik, naik dan naik ! Kemungkinan besar kita akan melihat harga RON95 naik kepada RM2.10/ liter atau lebih tinggi minggu ini!

Minggu 3 (17 Mei 2017): AWAS! Harga produk ditapis telah bergerak ke atas manakala Ringgit, selaras dengan dasar Bank Negara, tidak bergerak banyak. Jadi mungkin harga petrol akan naik dalam pengumuman Rabu ini! Pump sekarang jika anda boleh!

Minggu 2 (10 Mei 2017): Jatuh jatuh dan jatuh! Harga minyak jatuh kepada USD$45/tong dan pasaran sangat lemah. Tetapi aliran meningkat Ringgit ini tidak banyak kemek lagi! (Kami berharap...). Jadi pada masa ini masih meramalkan kejatuhan seterusnya dalam harga petrol pada Rabu 9 Mei!

Minggu 1: OK, jika anda mengikuti pasaran kewangan, anda sudah tahu bahawa Ringgit semakin naik, naik dan naik sejak beberapa minggu lalu (seperti yang kami meramalkan). Pada masa yang sama, harga minyak telah menuju ke bawah dan khususnya, harga produk halus telah turun juga.

Jadi ringkasnya, kita meramalkan kejatuhan untuk harga petrol RON95 pada 3 Mei! Jika boleh, tunggu sehingga hari Khamis untuk pam minyak anda!

Week 4 (24 May 2017): Yes ladies and gentlemen, the trend is up, up and up! Most likely we would see RON95 price go up to RM2.10/litre or even higher this week!

Week 3 (17 May 2017): PRICE ALERT! Refined product prices have been moving up while Ringgit, in line with Bank Negara policies, has not moved much. So there is likely to be an increase in prices in the announcement this Wednesday! Pump if you can!


Week 2 (10 May 2017): Oil prices have dropped to US$45/barrel and markets are very weak. But the Ringgit's recent uptrend has not been dented much (yet! we hope). So as of now are still predicting a further fall in petrol price this Wednesday 9 May!

Week 1: Well if you follow the financial markets, you know already that the Ringgit has been on an up, up, up trend the last few weeks (just as we predicted). At the same time, oil prices have been heading down and in particular, refined products prices have been going down too.

So in short, we are predicting quite a major fall in RON95 petrol price on 3 May! If you can, wait until Thursday the 4th to pump!

26 April 2017: Pertama, Daulat Tuanku!! Berdasarkan harga bahan-bahan mentah dan kadar pertukaran minggu ini, harga petrol RON95 sepatutnya turun apabila diumumkan pada 26 April 2017! Ia sepatutnya akan turun minggu lepas juga, tetapi mungkin kerajaan perlu tunai tambahan 👀- hanya tekaan kami! 
Minggu ini ia mungkin serendah RM2.20/liter!

RON95 diumumkan pada 19 April 2017: Bertambah 3 sen, sekarang RM2.27/liter! Rupanya kerajaan mungkin mengenakan sedikit cukai, kerana harga bahan mentah dan kadar pertukaran Ringgit tidak diubah banyak!

Harga RON95 yang mungkin diumumkan pada 19 April 2017: RM2.24 / liter (Tidak Berubah)

Update 18 April 2017: Harga bahan mentah lebih rendah sikit minggu ini, jadi kita mungkin melihat sedikit penurunan harga RON95. Kes yang terburuk adalah harga tidak berubah. Jadi tidak perlu tergesa-gesa untuk pam petrol esok!

Update 17 April 2017: Sistem harga petrol telah dirombak bermula bulan April 2017 dan kini dilakukan setiap minggu, pada hari Rabu. Namun cara pengiraan tiada sebarang perubahan, jadi blog ini masih tepat seperti biasa ☺

Minggu lepas kami bercuti Good Friday tetapi itu tidak menjejaskan perdagangan Ringgit atau produk petrol. Kami masih mempunyai data yang baik setiap hari. Setakat ini, harga produk petrol halus telah meningkat 1% minggu lepas manakala ringgit kekal stabil. Jadi kemungkinan besar, pada 19 April 2017 harga petrol RON95 akan kekal stabil atau naik sedikit sahaja.

26 April 2017: Well it was certainly good news. We were right on target and the actual announced price on 26 April was RM2.21/liter! As always, check out the main page for the latest updates!

26 April 2017: First, congratulations on the new Agong! Well, based on the pricing of raw materials and exchange rate this week, the price of RON95 petrol should go down when announced on 26 April 2017!

It was supposed to be down last week as well but perhaps the government needed the extra cash for something - just our guess! This week it should be as low as RM2.20/liter!

RON95 announced on 19 April 2017: It's up 3 sen to RM2.27/liter! Well, looks like the government may be taking some taxation as there was no substantial change in either raw material or exchange rate.

RON95 price likely to be announced on 19 April 2017: RM2.23/litre (Slightly down or Unchanged)

Update on 18 April 2017: Prices are a little bit lower this week, so with some luck we might see a slight drop in RON95 pricing. At the worse case, it would be kept the same. In short, no need to rush to the petrol station tomorrow!

Update on 17 April 2017: As we know the petrol price system has been revamped starting in April 2017 and now is done weekly, on Wednesday. There are no changes though to how the calculation is actually done, so this blog remains as accurate as ever ☺

Well last week there was the Good Friday holidays but that did not affect trading of the Ringgit nor refined petrol products. We still have good visibility every day of the pricing. So far, the price of refined petrol products is up about 1% last week while the ringgit remains stable. So most likely, on 19 April 2017 the RON95 petrol price will either remain stable or go up very marginally.

One factor to watch is the weakening of USD last week - if it keeps on moving in this direction, we may have cheaper petrol in the upcoming weeks! But stay tuned... you will find out first right here.

So as we all know, petrol prices would now be announced every Wednesday, to come into effect on Thursday. The method of calculation is likely to be unchanged though, so you can still gain an edge by coming here to see the latest predictions!

What price is likely to be announced on Wednesday, 5 April 2017? Based on current trends, we are predicting there would be a rise in the RON95 petrol price. While the USD/Ringgit currency pair has not moved, the price of raw materials has increased 3% in the last week.

As such we are expecting RM2.17/litre for RON95 to be the price announced on 5 April. So go fill up your tanks while the going is good!

UPDATE PADA 28 MAC 2017: Pada masa ini kami cukup yakin bahawa harga RON95 akan turun pada bulan April!

Maksudnya? Jika boleh, jangan mengisikan minyak sehingga penuh untuk minggu ini! Tunggu sehingga 1 Apr dan kemungkinan besar, harga akan jatuh.

Untuk bulan Mac 2017, kaedah kami terbukti betul! Kami anggarkan harga RON95 pada RM2.29 / liter dan dijangka ia akan dikekalkan pada RM2.30 / liter - kami tepat sekali!

Jadi di sini adalah ramalan terbaru untuk bulan April 2017. Sekarang sudah 25 Mac, dan harga bahan mentah sudah turun 8% (dalam USD) manakala ringgit masih stabil, jadi kemungkinan besar akan ada penurunan April 2017 harga petrol! Mari kita berharap trend ini kekal!

UPDATE ON 1 APR 2017: AND we were spot on again! We predicted RM2.12/liter and it was actually RM2.13/liter. Malaysia now uses a weekly pricing mechanism, but PetrolPP will keep predicting! See the latest here.

UPDATE ON 28 MARCH 2017: It's the last couple of days for March, and as of now, it looks like there would definitely be a drop in RON95 price in April! 

Action points? Well, if you can, don't fill up your petrol tank to the max this week - try to wait until 1 April and quite likely, the price would be lower!

As you know from March 2017, our method proved to be very much correct! We calculated RON95 price at RM2.29/litre and expected it would be retained at RM2.30/litre - which it was!

So here is the latest for April 2017. The way things are currently moving, raw material cost is down 8% (in USD) while the ringgit is still stable, so most likely there would be a fall in April 2017 petrol prices! Let's hope it stays that way.

SAMA DENGAN FEB! Iaitu RM2.30/litre

OK apa maknanya dot oren (2.26) di atas? Itulah yang dikira kami sebagai harga Februari 2017. Ternyata ia adalah RM2.30/litre - boleh tahan lah! 98%, boleh dapat Gred A kah, cikgu??!

Walaupun harga bahan-bahan mentah (dalam USD) meningkat 2% pada bulan Februari setakat ini, manakala ringgit lebih kurang stabil berbanding dengan USD bulan lepas, jadi harga sepatutnya lebih kurang sama dengan bulan dahulu.

OK folks, let's get straight to the point.

As of 27 Feb 2017, with only 1 more day to go, MOST LIKELY the RON95 price in March 2017 is going to be.... drumrolllllllll

The same - at RM2.30/litre

OK what is that little orange 2.26 dot, you ask? That's what we calculated to be the price in February. As it turns out, it was RM2.30 instead which is not too bad lah ah? 98%, can get A or not, teacher? 

The price of raw materials (in USD) is up 2% in February so far, while the ringgit is about flat against USD, so the calculated price is RM2.29 - all in all it should more or less the same!

Look at that big jump since late 2016! Yikes! Heartache.

Malaysia is one car-crazy country, every family must have one or even more cars for each person! Crazy, right? So petrol price - especially RON95 that most normal people pump, is a big fat expense item, and sometimes even a hot button political issue. Despite the laws regarding petrol pricing being made available to the public, and much of the data needed being available as well, there are still plenty of misconceptions around.
